A great way to go for your fedora wearer is one of our hatcare items:

An essential item is a felt hat brush ($15): These areperfect for keeping a nice felt hat dust free. Just be sure to always brushthat hat counter clockwise, with the grain of the felt.

Another great small gift is Scout Felt Hat Protector spray($12). Just follow the directions and a hat will be more water repellent.

Scout Felt Cleaner (in dark or light colors, $12) is anotherexcellent small gift. These sprays can be used to get a deeper clean than abrush will do alone.

2011 Holiday Gift Guide 1: Tips for Buying Hats as Gifts; Size Matters

This is the first in a series of gift guides we at Arth aregoing to be putting out throughout this holiday season. This is all about tipsfor buying hats as gifts.

Now, we understand that this is probably intuitive, but itneeds to be said. Most hats are sized.

We do, of course have many options of adjustable and flexfitted caps and newsboys; knit hats are one size fits all; and Women’s hats areusually only available in one size because fit is not essential to the look ofthe hat (the way it is for men).

We would recommend trying to find out the size your intendedrecipient wears. The best way is to check, covertly, is to look at a hat theyalready own. There are three common sizing schemes Metric, Imperial American,and Named Sizes.

Here is an example of a "size adjustable" hat with drawstrings:

Here is an example of a hat that uses Metric sizing (the size will usually be a number between 56 and 62 and itrepresents the circumference in centimeters):

Here is an example of a hat that uses both Imperial American and Named sizing:

Imperial American always uses a fraction. Named sizing always uses a name: Small, Medium, Large,Extra-Large. This particular sizing system varies from manufacturer tomanufacturer.

Tip #2: If the size is not listed, measure the circumference of the inside ofthe hat. Using a centimeter measurement is best, or if you prefer to measure in inches, it will still get the job done. Using your measuring tape / string / ribbon, line it up around thesweatband and then take the measurement.

Override LowPro Bike Caps

“Low pro” is a new project conceived by Simon Taylor, a founding member of the well known, London based, artist collective TOMATO. The objective of Tomato is to be a mediator between artists and commercial brands while helping to produce merchandise, events, and anything else that interests them. Taylor and Tomato teamed up with Override and Fuji Bicycles for this line.

[Simon Taylor]
Simon Taylor was born in England in 1965, and is well known for being one of the founding members of Tomato. He studied at Bath Academy of Art and London College of Printing, graduating with a BA in Graphic Art with Honors.
Since the 1980s, Taylor has directed films about various aspects of contemporary culture, made videos, paintings, and created installations throughout Europe and Japan. In 1990, he founded the fashion brand Urban Action, later to become UACT, which he ran for 15 years.
In 1991, Taylor helped found Tomato, a studio collective of artists from diverse creative backgrounds and in 1999, following collaborations on music for films, he formed the band Johnny Conquest which, to date, has released two albums.
Today he continues to design for major brands, to direct commercials and films, and to display his art and design work with Tomato in Europe and Japan. More recently, he worked on a two-year project involving film, sculpture, and sound for the Expo Zaragoza, in Spain.

Tomato combines the talent of Steve Baker, Michael Horsham, Jason Kedgley, Karl Hyde, Rick Smith, Simon Taylor, Dirk Van Dooran, John Warwicker, Graham Woods, and the internationally known electronic band Underworld. They are a major success story from their founding in the 1990s to today. The commercial work of Tomato includes promotional films, TV commercials, corporate identity designs, product designs, music, and “strategic thinking.” Most of their immense body of work is highly respected.

Phase 2: Selecting a Counter-Top

Satoshi made the trip to Brooklyn to hand select the perfect marble counter-top for the new store. Through racks and racks of marble tops, he picked out the perfect Italian piece with no cracks or imperfections with the help of the marbel expert, Marcus. Thank you Marcus for all the help, we plan on leaving the edges of this counter-top unfinished with notes scribbled in paint on the sides so we'll always remember your service and help.

Prez Obama comes to Soho!

All day Arth Soho was anticipating the arrival of our President, Mr. Obama. Police officers were lined up along Houston and the streets were blocked off. Crowds grew. Then, a helicopter... and tons of cop cars and motorcycles, and finally, the President in a fancy black car, flags with the Presidential seal waving in the wind. It was fast, but we saw him! Welcome to town Mr. President!

Today the Arth Soho shop was visited by a Brazilian television crew. They were very curious about hats since, according to them, Brazilians never wear hats. We were happy to welcome the renowned and beautiful reporter Giuliana Morrone into our world of hats.
